5.1. What are the main steps to get connected to the ENX network?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

First you have to register at the ENX Association. You can do this via our online ENX registration.

Once you have been registered and approved you may contact one of our certified service providers to obtain more details including prices and realisation times.

5.2. Why do I have to register for the ENX network?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

The ENX network is a secure network with the purpose of being a platform to exchange business data within sectors such as the automotive industry. For security and authentication reasons every company has to register in order to use the network.

Besides, ENX is a multi-provider network, which enables each user to freely choose between several providers. By means of the central registration the ENX Association keeps track of all users independent of the provider that supplies their ENX access. This enables us to offer services like the ENX yellow pages.

Our certified service providers will therefore not accept customers who cannot submit an "ENX registration number".

5.6. Why do I have to name a first communication partner in order to get connected?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

If you register for ENX, you do this with the purpose of communicating with at least one partner who has a working ENX connection. Therefore the requirement to have an ENX access only exists with a communications partner.

Besides, the first communications partner acts as your guarantor. It is not possible to establish a connection without the approval of your respective communications partner.

5.7. Is it possible to get connected without naming a first communication partner?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

No. For reasons of authentication and security a first communications partner is required to be named during the registration process.

See FAQ 5.6. Why do I have to name a first communication partner in order to get connected?

Note: If you want to use ENX for your corporate network it is possible to use cross-references ('port location A' names 'port location B' as its first communications partner and vice versa). We will get in touch with you after your registration in order to ensure a proper initial authentication.

See FAQ 3.3. Can ENX be used for intra company connections?

5.8. Do I have to register every single physical location?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

Yes. Each physical access (we call it "port location" in our registration form) has to be registered and thus requires its own "ENX registration number".

If you are already registered and you want to register an additional port location you can easily state this in the application form.

We are happy if you are using more than one ENX access. However, if you detect that your company has a multitude of accesses (in various countries, run by various daughter companies etc.) you may want to check whether a consolidation is possible in order to realise further savings.

5.10. Can I use ENX without an "ENX registration number"?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

5.11. What is the "ENX registration number"?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

Once you are registered and approved you will receive an "ENX registration number" (via email).

This number entitles you to get connected by one of our certified service providers (CSPs). The CSPs are not allowed to connect customers without an "ENX registration number".

The "ENX registration number" consists of 10 digits. The first 6 digits represent the company code, the last 4 digits represent the connection number (Example: 0012340001)

Every single physical access requires its own "ENX registration number". This is necessary for a distinct identification of every access.

5.12. What is the "ENX solution number"?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

The "ENX solution number" is just an internal customer number assigned by the certified service provider T-Systems. It starts with a letter (E, L or R) and is followed by 9 digits.

Some times users mix up the T-Systems-internal "ENX Solution Number" with the official "ENX registration number" assigned by the ENX Association.

5.13. Do I still need the "VDA-Registrierungsnummer"?

This FAQ is also available in German | French

No. In the years 1998 and 1999 all German users were registered by the "Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA)" and received a so-called "VDA-Registrierungsnummer". The complete number consisted of up to 25 digits. Since 2000, the ENX Association administers the registration using a new syntax for the registration number.

All users owning a "VDA-Registrierungsnummer" have been informed about their new "ENX registration number".

If, however, you just remember your "VDA-Registrierungsnummer" we can easily provide you with your "ENX registration number". Just call or send an email.

If another users asks you for your "VDA-Registrierungsnummer" please simply provide your ENX Registrationnumber. In case of doubt, simply refer to us and to this FAQ.
